What is Wilton?

If you read any of my cake guides, you will notice a common theme throughout; I am usually recommending some kind of Wilton products. For those of you who are not familiar with the company, here is a little background.

In 1929,Dewey McKinley Wilton opened a small, one room, cake decorating school for caterers and chefs. From this small beginning, Wilton has grown into a company that helps chefs and moms alike. Today you can take Wilton classes at many of your local craft stores. In fact, with a little training, you can even become a Wilton instructor. On their website, www.wilton.com, you can purchase supplies, find cake decorating and cookie making instructions, get tons of ideas and recipes, as well as visit a forum to get your decorating questions answered. In short,Wilton is filled with resources to help you become the decorator you aspire to be.

My Wilton Rolling Pin Experience

I had a great time using this product. One of the rolling pin's best features is its versatility. Unlike your wooden pin, this rolling pin can be used to roll out cookie doughs, pasta doughs and fondant. A huge plus for the baker with limited cabinet space. What makes this pin so versatile is its rubber/silicone like surface. Unlike a wooden rolling pin, this one will not suck the moisture out of your fondant or any other moisture sensitive dough and, in my experience, needs much less flour or sugar to keep the dough from sticking.

A few other features I found to be really useful were its easy to clean surface and removable handles. Yes, that's right! These handles easily pop off to make cleaning easier and more productive. Those little bits of dough will not stick and dry up inside the cracks of this rolling pin. With a push of a button, the handles are removed and all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned. Even more, because this rolling pin is fully submersible, it can be cleaned in the dishwasher. A huge time saver.

This product gets a big thumbs up from me. Easy to clean and versatile, it really is a must have for any kitchen. You can buy this rolling pin by visiting Wilton's online store, checking your local craft store or clicking the link below. Check back next week (11/23) for a chance to win Wilton's Rolling Pin.
